LARCH WOOD / CARE GUIDE
cutting board care.
A few regular habits help a wooden board fit into daily life. This guide follows Larch Wood’s own instructions for cleaning and conditioning.

EVERYDAY CARE
Wash. Dry. Condition.
Wash
Wipe with a damp cloth or sponge. Where needed, hand wash with a little mild detergent and warm running water.
Dry & store
Wipe away water and dry thoroughly before storing. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat; do not enclose the board while it is still damp.
Condition
The maker recommends weekly care for the first month, then monthly. Apply conditioner to the dry top, sides and underside; allow it to absorb and buff with a dry cloth.
WHAT TO AVOID
What to keep away from your board.
Dishwashers, soaking & heat
The maker says not to use a dishwasher or immerse the board in water. Keep hot pots and pans off the surface and avoid concentrated heat. Use warm water for normal cleaning.
Baking soda & bleach
Advice for other wooden boards does not automatically apply to Larch Wood. The maker documents discolouration after baking soda use and explicitly advises against bleach.

Do all dark marks have the same cause?
Food stains, chemical discolouration and possible mould are different issues. If the cause is unclear, stop using the board and contact the seller with photographs and its care history. Do not assume bleaching or heavy sanding is the answer.
I accidentally used baking soda.
The maker gives a recovery method that first requires a properly conditioned board. A dry board may react differently. Discuss its condition with the seller and read the full manufacturer instructions before trying a stain treatment.
What if the grain feels raised?
The maker suggests gently smoothing raised fibres with fine 280-grit sandpaper. Raised grain is different from a crack, an open joint or mould. If you are unsure of the condition or warranty implications, consult the seller before sanding.
Which oil or conditioner should I use?
This guide follows the maker’s use of Larch Wood Cutting Board Conditioner. It does not recommend substituting any cooking oil. Follow the ingredients and instructions on the care product you purchase.
